"We would like to thank Dan Diner for his outstanding commitment to building up the Foundation, which has made it one of the largest and most effective players in the field of Holocaust remembrance, combating antisemitism and strengthening democracy within just a few years," said Dr Peter Harf on behalf of the founders, paying tribute to the outgoing chair's achievements and asking him to continue running the Foundation until the end of the year.

The five-year build-up phase also marks the end of the term of the committees, the Governing Council and the Academic Council. This milestone will be used for a review of the Foundation's work. As soon as the results of this review are available, a decision will be made on new appointments to the committees. The amount of funding assigned to the Foundation’s work will remain the same. Ongoing and approved projects will be funded or initially supported as planned. Furthermore, the Foundation will continue to be managed operationally by its Co-CEOs Lena Altman and Silke Mülherr.
